I’m very curious about this whole Golden Compass = Atheism thing. The trailers for the movie didn’t really do anything to make me want to see it (other than the fact Eva Green is in it). I feel like Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter are enough children’s fantasy for me. I love the Harry Potter franchise and enjoyed Narnia but there’s something about The Golden Compass that just doesn’t appeal to me. Anyway, now there’s all this buzz around it saying it’s Anti-Christian and supports Atheism. The author is publicly atheist supposedly and from what I’m told the first book is the least anti-Christian but the other two that follow get in to it a bit more (or something.) It makes me want to at least read the books and see what all the fuss is about.
Today is Martin Scorsese’s birthday.
I love when a movie has a crazy cast. This movie had so many people in it.
Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men)
John Hawkes (I love this guy)
The RZA (Who I’m pretty sure had a Wu Tang Clan tattoo… and it’s supposed to be 1969ish.)
Joe Morton (where’s he been?)
Idris Elba (This guy was in Daddy’s Little Girls and he was at the aquarium when I was there)
Kevin Corrigan (The Departed)
Jon Polito (The Rocketeer among many many others)
Norman Reedus (Where has he been?? What a small part for him…)
Roger Bart (this guy played Snoopy in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown on Broadway and is currently playing Dr. Frankenstein in the Broadway version of Young Frankenstein)
On Halloween night, my brother requested that we watch Clerks because he had never seen it before. I gladly agreed and popped it in. Then I realized that I have become older than the main characters are in the movie. Dante and Randal are 22 in that movie. I’m now 24. How can I be older than Dante and Randal? My life is falling apart.
