Today is Christopher Reeve’s Birthday. Makes me sad.
On a different but related note: It is also Mr. Blonde’s birthday.
On a different but related and kinda weird note: Michael Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones share the same birthday, which is also today.
It’s starting to become my favorite time of the year. When asked what my favorite season is I usually reply fall because of the cool weather. However, I forget the real reason why this time of year is fantastic. It’s when the Oscar worthy movies start coming out. Sure, you’ll get some movies hoping to win an Oscar and obviously trying too hard to do so, but you also get the movies that WILL win an Oscar… or two… or all of them. Those are the movies I get excited about. Don’t get me wrong. I love summer movies too. Those are the fun movies. Like Transformers and Die Hard. But now we are getting the films that are going to speak to us. That will move us. That will stay with us for a long long time.
Unless it’s a crappy year and nothing good comes out.
That would suck.
I find it interesting that Peter Berg has become so famous for his directing efforts. Good for him. I liked Friday Night Lights. I’ll probably go see The Kingdom even though it really doesn’t look like my type of movie. I liked The Rundown (sue me).
However… Peter Berg will always be the dude from the movie Late For Dinner where he played one of two guys who get cryogenically (did I just make up a word?) frozen in the 50’s and wake up in the 90s. It was a little gem of a movie. I wish they would put it on dvd.
…or maybe they do and I just need to buy it…
